Howdy-Has anyone here installed one of the Fuji TVS spinning reel seats using a Flex Coat / Pac Bay arbor as the insert? Seems like it should work or am I overlooking something?

These reel seats use an insert that will make the actual ID smaller that will go over the blank. The foam core type arbor material will need to be shaped very thin (depending on the OD of the blank where the seat will go) to accommodate the sleeve / insert. Sometimes this is not practical to shape foam this thin so you may wind up using masking tape or drywall fiberglass joint tape. I try not to use the paper masking tape but sometimes a thin strip is all you will need and if you seal your seat properly you really don't have to worry about it.

1 or 2 wraps of tape is sometimes all it takes. Seldom more than 4 or 5.

Thanks for the responses, but maybe I'm asking the wrong question. What I wondered was if the 'brick foam' type of arbors/material was suitable to use in lieu of cork for handles/ inserts etc?

In the spirit of the OP's post; has anybody used material other than the carbon fiber tube in these seats?

Thanks,
George
