Hey guys,
I have been asked about building an ice rod. I have not built one yet and wanted to get some input. The questions I have are. 1. Who handles ice rod blanks? I did get on Mud Hole and see they have HMX and CRB. Any others out there? 2. What about guides. I am currently using Pac Bay guides on all of the rods I have built so far. Anyone know what guides they have that would work for ice rods. Any and all input would be very much appreciated. Thanks Rick Re: Ice Rods

Sportsmens Direct and V Line Custom Rods also carry a variety of ice blanks. As far as guides, I use a Pac Bay minima for the stripper and single foot fly guides for the rest. Re: Ice Rods

Basskang all the way, his panfish noodles and walleye carbons are the best for $8. Use light weight fly guides or recoil guides. Basskang sells fly guides and handles also. I use the Mud hole 5" cork handles sometimes but make a lot of my own. Email me and I can send you pics of all the ice rods you want, I built over 500 of them living in Minnesota.
