I'm building another fly rod last one was built by my grandpa I'm building this one an I'm having trouble deciding what it should 1st or what it should say like my name ,made in an the length ,weight etc how does everyone else do theirs any suggestions thanks ..

It is your rod that you are building. It is wonderful for you to decide what you want to put on the rod.
Enjoy the process.

You will probably like knowing what line weight you built it for, along with the length and maybe even the blank model number. Adding your name is a personalized touch that certainly wouldn't be out of order.

if you intend to pass it on as an heirloom like your grandfather did, You might want to put a date on it. so your kids or grand kids a have reference point to when you built it

It is all up to you as to what you want it will all work no matter what way you put it down on the DECAL , you ban even try your hand with a pen an ink, , it will all work , an the rod will look an feel like a

put a wrap in about 2.5 to 3 inches above your outermost hook keeper wrap. Then put down a layer of guide epoxy on and between the two wraps. Let it dry. Get some very fine 300-400 grit sandpaper. Lightly sand the epoxy in this area. Then you can get a high-quality pen or lacquer paint and use it to write your name, the date, rod specs, whatever you want. Let the writing dry. Then add a couple more coats of epoxy. Works great.
