Frog rod suggestions

Looking to build a frog rod for personal use, I would appreciate any suggestions and ideas. Ideally a 7ft blank fast action.

Thanks,

Hello Curtis - Here are a coupld of links to a couple of MHX Rod Blanks that are proven for frog fishing. This link to a 7' - [www.mudhole.com] - and a link for a 7'-3" - [www.mudhole.com] - The 7"-3" MB874-MHX is just a bit more powerful in the lower section of the rod blank than the 7' model. The MB874-MHX is better if you are fishing around really heavy vegetation or cover. Thank You

Is a fast frog rod the same as a fast fishing rod or are there different standards for rods pursuing different phylums of animals?

We’d personally recommend our RainShadow Immortal IMMC73HXF – has an x-fast tip but still has the power behind it - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

You can also go with the Revelation REVC72H - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

Curtis,
I fish the MB 874 MHX on Lake Guntersville Alabama. This lake has very heavy and dense vegetation and the 874 has the power needed to move a big fish. I agree with my friend Bob on his choice of blank for this type of cover. Bob is familiar with Guntersville when he lived in Tenn. and now Florida and the type of vegetation growing in them. Set the hook and start cranking with this rod in your hand.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am in SoCal and don't see a whole lot of heavy vegetation. I will take a look at the suggested blanks and see how they fit with what I am looking got build.

Curtis, if you are not fishing heavy, cover, pads or weeds then you really don’t need an extremely powerful rod.
Here are a few rods on which I have CCS intrinsic power numbers. This may give you something for comparison purposes.
MHX MB874 - IP = 1047 gm
MHX SJ 843 - IP = 900 gm
PointBlank 731HXF - IP = 947 gm
PointBlank 731MHXF - IP = 813 gm
Point Blank 701MH. - IP = 800 gm
Rainshadow IMMC 72MH. - IP = 1015 gm
Rainshadow IMMC72M - IP = 847 gm
RodGeek B470MHF - IP = 818 gm
They are all very good blanks my personal favorite are the PointBlanks. My personal frog rod is the the PB731HXF but I fish heavy pads and weeds with it. Hope this of help.

The Immortal blanks are awesome blanks, (I'm not familiar with the other blanks Norman mentioned) but .... and this is just my opinion, but if it's going to a dedicated frog rod meaning strictly a rod used for topwater baits, there really is no need for a blank with the type of sensitivity that the Immortal provides Were it me I'd go with the Revelation REVC72H that Mr Taylor suggested.
