I can't find a TFO - BVK 9 wt. 9 ft. blank available for sale. It's my favorite all-purpose saltwater blank, and I want to buy that blank to have a back-up for the one I built and am using now. Please inform me if you know anyone who has that blank in stock? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/16/2019 04:35PM by Phil Ewanicki. Re: blank availability

All I see is "out of stock". It may be that the BVK blanks are eroding sales of newer, more expensive blanks. Newer is not necessarily better but it's usually more expensive. Re: blank availability

I've noticed TFO has discontinued their old go-to rod blanks. The TiCro-X was a good enough salt water blank but now gone, kind of replaced by the BVK. And now that's gone. Probably time to look elsewhere, or go with one of the current offerings. I did like that their blanks were made in Korea and not China.
For the same money, you could look at (made in Mexico) RodGeeks, which are excellent, and cost effective. I've recently built 2 9 weight fly rods from RodGeeks Carbon4 and have to say, they offer a great product at a competitive price. Drew Re: blank availability

The BVK was a huge improvement over the Ti-Crx. For a while there were rumors about breakage with the BVK, but I built and have used a 9 wt. BVK for several years with great satisfaction. I suspect "easily broken" reports often originate from guys who transport their rods hanging out over the tailgate of their pickup. I hope BVK blanks in 9 wt. and higher are still being fabricated and offered for sale. Many of us saltwater fly-fishers prefer the casting qualities of this blank in heavier line weights to those of the Axiom II. Re: blank availability
