Tom: The objective physical data you provide is appreciated by many rod builders. The ccs system you endorse is a fine resource for builders who seek to influence performance rather than emotions. I wish there were an equally objective system to gauge the abilities of people who want to order a custom rod. Re: Some CCS questions

Doubt there will ever be a system that can do that. Too many intangibles in dealing with so many different folks. It's always hard to tell a potential customer that what he wants isn't really going to do what he wants. Hard to convince some customers that you know better than they do, what they need in order to do what they want to do. This is where some builders, due to perhaps outstanding communication skills, etc., can make sales when others can't.

Maybe if we classified lures and sinkers as "really light", "medium light", "heavy light", "light medium" etc. instead of ounces we could precisely match our "really light", "medium light", "heavy light" etc. rods with the weights they are casting?
