For those of you who have builds out with Winn Grips, what are your clients telling you?

I used Winn Grip overwrap's which i wrapped around the bare blank on the butt and foregrip on both of my surf rods at the beginning of last year and used them the entire season and i had no issues with them tearing off ,falling off or losing any of their incredible tackiness so they worked for me. I never had them repeatedly subjected to coming in and out of rod holders though or placed on any type of rail when fishing , i wouldn't think they would hold up to a lot of that but just holding and fishing they were fine.

I went back to my favorite plain black shrink with cord wrapped in an " X " pattern underneath for this year though. I get bored easy lol. Can't comment on the non overwrap Winn Grips though i just use the overwraps.

The customers I have with Winn grips love them. Most out 2+ years.

They do wear down, I have had a couple on my crappie jig rods for about 4 to 5 years now and they are starting to show some wear and tear. My jig rigs are set up with the reel at the very end of the rod, so I’m always holding on to the grip. They get very heavy use during the crappie spawn. They are quite comfortable, and wear relatively well, but don’t last forever.

4 years is about max service life before the wear is rather noticeable IMO

I have put them on bass and walleye rods and everyone loves them. I have a few of them out there on musky rods also. One of the musky guys that puts in a lot of hours wore out his fore grip in one season. The outer layer started to peel away from the core. Still usable but we won't be using the Winn grips on his stuff any more. I think a lot of it just depends on the person and how much torque they put on the grips when they cast/retrieve.

I've used them in a couple of builds, one for my son, the other for my brother. Both really like them. My brother, a heavy duty bass fisherman, was fishing a tournament a couple of weeks ago and was using the rod I built for him. His partner really liked the rod and was trying to get him to sell it. Made me feel warm and fuzzy inside! :)

...brother was smart enough to decline! LOL
