Anyone have a technique to remove a burr from finished epoxy guide caused by a small piece of thread ? I assume I will have to apply another coat of epoxy.

thanks

Mark

Mark,
Simply take a razor knife and slice off the burr. You can also use a single edged fresh razor blade with equally good results.

Note:
I keep a scalpel handy with a supply of fresh blades for such slicing operations. A scalpel with a new blade is always exceedingly sharp.

After slicing off the burr, just put an additional coat of finish on the guide wrap. You can use the standard finish as opposed to the high build finish since you just need a very thin cover coat for this job.

Good luck

p.s.
There are a lot of suppliers of Taxidermy products. Here is a listing for the scalpels from just one random supplier:

NO, not 5 minute, that is an adhesive, not a coating type.

Use another coat of your wrap epoxy.

If you used CP, you need to put some back on the cutoff area, prior to adding the coat of finish. Otherwise you may have a darker spot in that area compared to the rest of the wrap

Your CP, or epoxy should have saturated the thread nub enough to not be a concern with the second coat.
