Hi guys, I have searched far and wide in the forum but couldn't find much info.
Looking at gluing some cork and EVA together to make fancy grips :) From what I've gathered contact cement is the way to go. I'm in Australia so weldwood is not available. Would any marine (waterproof) contact cement work? Does the colour of the dried glue come through on the joins? Cheers Adam Re: Gluing EVA and Cork together.

one is fairly hard the other is soft , with the use that glue joint would work against one another an would be more problems that just EVA or CORK altogether , I think ,
PS never have did it, just my 2 CTS on the question, could be wrong , William Sidney AK Re: Gluing EVA and Cork together.

I've used light build epoxy. The same as I use on the wraps, turned out pretty good. Re: Gluing EVA and Cork together.

Epoxy for thread wraps is not the same as bonding epoxy. Thread wrap epoxy is a "paint." According to Tom Kirkman anyway. Re: Gluing EVA and Cork together.

Thread wrap epoxy is a "casting resin," not a paint.
Contact cement will work fine for adhering cork and EVA. ................ Re: Gluing EVA and Cork together.

We use our Rod Builder's Glue, Five Minute Epoxy, or even our @#$%& or High Water OEM Paste Epoxy to glue cork and EVA together all the time. Apply, clamp, and wipe with a paper towel with Denatured Alcohol for clean up. Works great. Flex Coat Company Professional Rod Building Supplies www.flexcoat.com Re: Gluing EVA and Cork together.

Gorilla glue. Needs clamping as it will foam up a bit but it fills all voids and bonds well Re: Gluing EVA and Cork together.

DO NOT use epoxy for EVA to EVa semas, the glue dries hard and there will be a noticeably hard, sometimes sharp spot in teh grip.
Cork to EVA, epoxy is fine, as the cork is hard and the glue joint will not be noticeable or feel different at all. Just a head's up, there is a bit of a learnign curve when it comes to sanding a grip with different materials, so I strongly recommend making a couple of scrap grips and sanding them down before investing the time and mone and installing one on a rod that "counts", and you end up with hack results.
