Can I put Prokote over Permagloss?

I've tried a few application techniques with permagloss sanding it off and restarting between and it still looks bad. The rod is a retirement gift for my batalion chief at the FD and my deadline is really close. The rod needs to be white. I think I could get a good finish with Prokote as long as it would bond well with the day old Permagloss. Does anyone have any thought or advise? Re: Can I put Prokote over Permagloss?

You need to allow the PG to fully cure before putting anything over it. The epoxy will bond to it, but not as long as the solvent in the PG is still dispersing.

Thank you Tom. Does anyone have any idea how long I should wait for it to cure, it also has the CRB liquid pigment mixed in? I'm really hoping 36 hours is long enough. Re: Can I put Prokote over Permagloss?

I normally wait at least 3 full days as long as the humidity is above 50%.

So Tom, what happens if your humidity is 15%? Asking because I'm going to coat some Mudhole carbon fiber grips and I live in a very low humidity place. Just for reference, today's humidity here in Sacramento is 14%. I've never used PermaGloss, but am itching to use some carbon fiber fly grips coated with PermaGloss? PermaGloss is a moisture curing urethane. The lower the humidity is, the longer it takes to cure.

Just don't rush it. The warnings are sound.
I have coated over Permagloss in the past with not so good results. It's been long enough ago that I don't remember how long I waited before epoxy application, but I do remember that it wasn't long enough. Micro-bubbles by the thousands formed as the epoxy cured...as a result of the Permagloss' continued off-gassing. Re: Can I put Prokote over Permagloss?

I have clear coated a blank with Permagloss one day and next day epoxy the thread wraps with no problems. However, I live in the Deep South where there is no such thing as low humidity.
