I recently purchased a new 2-oz package of ProPaste. First time I used it I noticed some small chunks in the resin portion. With a bit of work I was able to smooth out the chunks, applied the ProPaste and all seemed just fine.
Today I was mixing another batch and noticed right in the center of the container of the resin portion a hard ball of resin around 3/4" in diameter. Is this a typical issue and nothing to worry about or should I contact Mudhole for a replacement? Re: ProPaste Quandary

You might microwave it for a few sec. and see if it improves. If you use equal portions of the good part it should be o.k. I'd get it replaced either way. Re: ProPaste Quandary

The resin will crystallize just warm it up a little and the crystals will disappear. It does not affect the epoxy from curing.

While you might be able to fix it, you shouldn't have to. Re: ProPaste Quandary

Mark,
When the folks say a few seconds in the microwave --- DO IT Try it 5 seconds at a time and check each time.Normally 5 or 10 seconds is more than enough. You do not want to cook the adhesive. Re: ProPaste Quandary

Yep i learned the power of the microwave oven a long time ago...short duration bursts are best. Thanks for the thoughts Roger. Re: ProPaste Quandary

Update, yesterday afternoon I had a few spare minutes so I did a couple of 6 second blasts in the micro and stirred the resin between. The consistency of the resin was more like what I am used to seeing after warming and stirring. Hopefully tonight I will have a few spare moments to look at it and see if it maintains. The thickening or lumps are caused by temperature. If in an area that is cold or really cool this can happen with most of the rod building epoxies. As you found, warming the resin will restore it's proper consistency. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
