Herb,
I love what you said:

"Please agree, even if you don't. "

A true politician!!

LMFAO!!!!! I do understand and I'm not just saying that. What a character.

Thanks to all. Let me see this week I'll remove a guide on a blank I have there to test it out. I will report here with results and pictures.

If you look close at the picture of the guide you can tell its definatly a penetration issue.. To the right of the guide you can see the twist in the thread..
However.. I wonder if the issue of penetration is due to a contamination of sorts.. If you look at the other picture, where the black butt wrap is next to the red and gold, about 20-30 or so wraps back onto the black at the top you can see what looks to be a fisheye or 2..

Just a thought....

Yea you are right, I’ve been repairing rods mostly so I’m rather new at this, and that was a first coat of finish, which I was going to go over it again until my drive belt snapped and I had to order more belts.

[drive.google.com]

Here is another rod guide done (before I made the first post) which I applied 3 coats of CP and then the finish. This one looked good although black does cover a lot of defects which I’m stating as a disclaimer. Maybe the picture isn’t that great.
