Reading past posts eliminates the "I wish" part. You'll see posts advising not to use a tack cloth also. You still gotta figure out who's right and who just likes to talk. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/17/2019 09:25PM by Lynn Behler. Re: About to apply some D2 finish for the first time?

If you only knew how much time i have spent reading the archives , it's one of the first things i raved about when i first joined , i have spent ridiculous amounts of time reading stuff going back to 2004 but that tip i have never come across . We all know it's your idea Lynn , just admit it. Re: About to apply some D2 finish for the first time?

If you want to take material off faster, like 5 coats.. Wet sand with the heavier grit.. It really does work better... Lynn saw that first hand at my place.. Harder to see the highs and lows, but faster before the fine tune..
Also, not saying he didnt come up with it for finish, but thats just applied from shaping cork.. Using a block will keep cork even when sanding.. Either way.. Yay lynn! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/17/2019 11:34PM by Anthony Unger. Re: About to apply some D2 finish for the first time?

I think most of us have Lynn but think about just how big the archives are , even if you were to spend 24/7 in there for long periods of time the chances of running across every tip from every rod builder ever posted are extremely slim , i do believe you 100% that it is somewhere in the archives i'm just grateful that you decided to share it . Although i never thought of it and didn't utilize it when i needed to sand a blank i know it will be of great help to others in the future and thats a good thing. Two issues with your approach. First you heated the mix with the torch, this accelerates the curing time, second starting at the tip. It is best to start at the butt, especially if you have a larger use of thread, such as decorative wraps. as the mix is most fluid and penetrates the thread better, plus when you get further up the rod, and the mix thickens, you easily see it and stop to mix a small batch to finish.
Putting your mix on the foil is not a problem, the heat is. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
