Is there any consensus on the best prepeg material to make graphite rod blanks? Torayca? Hankuk? Some other prepeg?

Probably that IM2000 stuff Andy Dear was fond of talking about.

Phil,
I concede and relinquish my previous title of the “Habitual-Over-Thinker” of the website to you. In all due respect, and with possibly a bit of jealousy thrown in, my persnickety thinking process pales in comparison to yours. I can only offer to be cautious!!!
Although coming from the composite industry, I admittedly have not kept-up with material or specific manufacturer advancements in the CF world. That being said, I would still be the most comfortable using CF offerings from past industry leaders such as Hexel (American) and Toray (Japanese). I am unfamiliar with “Torayca” or “Hankuk”. From previous experience with and testing their offerings, my confidence in Chinese structural textiles or other third-world offerings is minimal at best. Maybe they have improved, but it would be a hard sale for me.
I am sorry I cannot offer a better answer to your question. Valid as it may be, consider it may be over-thinking for our application.

Rod builders tend to obsess over details, myself included. Parsing hundredths of an ounce in guide train weight has been pretty well covered - and re-covered [but it involved measurable, objective data]. I hope contributors can shed some light on the measurable physical qualities of rod blanks themselves - something more substantial than "light" or "powerful" or "medium" or "soulful".
