I have someone wanting a jigging rod for the Larry. He regularly uses 1oz-1.5oz of weight in the current up there.

Normally I would reach for the IMMS62XF but he prefers a longer rod.

Has anyone built the RodGeeks C4610MXF and used it for jigging? Or perhaps the St. Croix counter part of this blank? I really enjoy building on RG products so would love to build on this blank if I can.

Another option would be the IMMS68MXF. Has anyone used this blank with this amount of weight?

Any thoughts or other recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Never fished there, but the Columbia River anglers use those size jigs due to the current and depths we fish. The #1 rod I see and also use is a MH bait casting rod. Reels with flipping switches are popular.

I noticed you have listed “MED” power blanks. I fish the Rainy River in northern Minnesota in the spring. We typically use up to 1/2-3/4oz jigs. I built a Rainshadow eternity 6’8” M specifically for this. It is an incredibly light and sensitive blank that easily handles 3/4oz jigs with live bait or plastic even though is is rated for 1/4oz-5/8oz. Can’t comment on how it would handle 1oz plus because I haven’t tried it.

Spencer I talked with him about that presentation and he'd like to stick with a spinning set up. What MH blanks are you running that you like? I would think building one as a spinning setup would get very similar results.

Brian the Eternity blanks are great. There are a lot of options for me in that 1/4-5/8range. My main concern is the heavier weight taking away from those blanks ability to perform at their top end.

A blank is a blank, it makes no difference what discription is used if it fits your needs.

I know Spencer I was just curious if you have found any that have the tip speed that's typically desired for this kind of fishing. I am waiting on a few pictures of a couple blanks under load. I am leaning towards MH after speaking with a few friends that have a ton of walleye experience on erie and the Detroit, st clair area. Thanks again.

Have you looked at the Rod Geeks carbon 4 series? They have several blanks in the lure weight range your looking for

Ya I got some pics of the C4610MXF and the C469MHF and am leaning towards the MH currently.

There is also the C473MHXS, designed with a softer, more sensitive tip they say, I haven't used that blank, if it's like the St. Croix MHXF there is info here and other sources on that blank.

I jig on the Larry. Rod Geeks as mentioned or I use the Liberty Poppin' series blanks.
