I’m finally getting around to building my vertical jigging rod.
I’m trying to figure out the guide train. I know these rods are a bit different due to reel size, rear grip length, and length of the blank. I think I’m going to go with a 6 foot blank. CBVJ6060. I currently have 2 of each Fuji BMNAG 30, 20, 16, 12, 10, and 8. I’m going to be using 50 or 60 pound braid (I can’t rememebr what’s spooled on here) with upwards of 80# mono, maybe more. On a Quantum Cabo 80. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/16/2019 07:03PM by Chris Zarza. Re: Vertical jigging rod guide train?

One thing you need to do is tape the guides I added put a deep bend in it. Make sure the line has clearance to the fore grip , Not fun when 50 lb braid is stretched tight and cutting into you fingers. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: Vertical jigging rod guide train?

The Fuji's are a casting guide. Vertical jigging won't require much, if any casting, so you should be ok to use them with your spinner. You also won't need a whole reduction train, just use what's needed to make a smooth line path. Roger's suggestion is ok, you could even drop the 16 and go to 12's. Be aware of the knots you will run with that big mono, make sure you get them through the 8's. Re: Vertical jigging rod guide train?

Or am I missing something with a spinning set up? Re: Vertical jigging rod guide train?

I built a similar set up for jigging AJs with fuji mn 40-25-16-12's to the tip. I wouldn't use anything smaller than 10s for the running guides. The leaders are generally pretty long when jigging and the knots are pretty bulky when tying to 80lb.
I'd try 30-20-16-12-10s to the tip and tie on your leader and see how it feels through the guides. Also play around with rear grip length. I prefer a 15 inch rear grip on jigging/bottom set ups, but it took me a few rods to figure that out lol. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
