The below visual will give you an idea . If you mean whats it feel like to fish a rod that utilizes the KR guidelines it feels much crisper and more responsive and what allows that is the reduction train is considerably shorter in length than a typical NGC layout and that means much smaller & lighter running guides begin closer to the reel which really lightens up the whole top section of the rod. The line is controlled and able to run straight much earlier in the process which not only increases distance but enhances feel and sensitivity as well .

Are the guide sizes line dependent or spool diameter dependent?

As Norm said both to a point but lets cut through everything else and get right down to what really determines whether a KR build is going to be successful for you . The # 1 factor in determining whether a KR concept build is best for your specific intentions is your choice of line type and diameter , if you intend to build a rod with the intention of always using braid that is rated at 30 pounds or under and even better 20 pounds and under or light mono then the KR concept is a great choice . If you intend to use braid 40 + pounds & up or mono 17 -20 + pounds and up then the KR concept is not the best choice imo.

Spool diameter while important in many aspects is of little importance on KR concept builds , why , because lighter braids are so ridiculously limp that they work extremely well with a very wide range of spool diameters . A great example of this is the reel i use on my two surf rods , both of my surf rod builds utilize reels that have spool diameters of 76 mm which is very large but their performance is just draw dropping . Now if i knew i was going to fish with 40 to 50 pound braid or 20 + pound mono i would have to start over because everything i did was based on using braid 20 pounds or less.

My two eleven foot surf rods both utilize the KR concept with the only difference being one surf rod is setup using a double foot RV 25 as the stripper & the other uses a KL-H 25 for the stripper . RV's are double foot KR concept guides
