Hi Everyone,
Got a CRB FIS782L rod blank that I am building into a trout rod. Casting capability 1/8-3/8 oz. Could I add one more running guide toward the tip section to drop casting to 1/16-1/4 oz for throwing a single split shot with bait( salmon egg or earthworm). I will be using the microwave guides. Thanks ahead time for everyone's help. Pat Re: Lowering or softening a rod's power

Yes you can add another guide, or even two. The weight will make a difference. It will also reduce the response (speed) of the rod, if you can live with that.

Thx Tom,
Most of the time the cast will be gentle lob so not to strip the bait off the hook. For large trout here in Nor Cal drifting a nightcrawler is the way to go (which is the way thru out the country). Pat Re: Lowering or softening a rod's power

Or, use a larger, heavier tip top. Best wishes, Ron Schneider Schneider's Rod Shop Mountain Home, Arkansas [www.schneidersrods.com] mtnron40@yahoo.com 870-424-3381 Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
