Anyone familiar with these rods and the guide train utilizing recoils and sic guides? Wondering the guide train size throughout and how you guys feel about recoils. There was a point many complained about recoils grooving not sure if this hybrid guide train fixes this issue or the brand itself has changed. Thanks

Don't know about now, but that guide train has been used in other G Loomis products before that series came out. First year they had REC tip tops, but changed the next year to ceramic. They are not my favorite guides, but the guide heigth is my issue, not the material. I don't need to strum the song from Deliverance on my guides either, so the flexibility is not high on the list either. I have no knowledge of the black coating having any value other than as paint.
The material in bare form has the same wear characteristics as bare stainless, just a hard chrome coating like the Minima rings in the Pac Bay Minima Ti guides is 3 times higher on the Vickers scale and the spinning guides all come in heights I'm more interested in using.
Your on a custom rod site, if something needs fixed, I/you can and will fix it. Either way I've never seen a grooved guide that got that way in a short time, my REC guided rods are all fine, but they are also not my "go to" rods either.

I got a chance to use an nrx and I’m really liking the guide train so I’m considering using this system moving forward on future builds

I believe G. Loomis makes blanks it labels "NRX" for both spinning rods and fly rods? The guides on either type of rod perform the same function but have significantly different requirements. I have never seen a fly rod guide grooved by a fly line, for example. I don't know if REC solid nickel-titanium alloy guides have the same abrasion resistance as chrome-plated iron alloy guides but REC solid NiTi guides resist corrosion better than plated iron alloy guides, especially fishing salt water.
