Hello guys my name is sebastian and im somewhat new to rod building i did some hand wrapping but nothing with high end products. Im stepping up to start building trolling rods roughly in the 80-130lbs class rods. I never really looked into building trolling rods before but just recently wanted to get into it. Could someone reference me to on what blanks, size thread, roller guides, tips, etc. pretty much tip to butt. As for type of reels going to be on would be shimano tiagra's 80w -130w, penn international 80w-130w, penn 12/0-16/0 and maybe some other brands out there in the same fishing range. Im also planning to buy power wrappers as well maybe some of you could point to me which brand to invest in as well.
Thanks guys, Re: trolling rod build

Sebastian:
Been a while since I built a 80- 130- Unlimited Trolling, Try to stick with a Premium blank Cal-Star -Seeker etc. As for roller guides Aftco Big Foot HD, are the common choice, My preference was FIN-NOR , but they are no longer available. Winthrop would be my choice they are pricey. Stuart, and Pac-Bay are other options. As far as butts Aftco Unibutts, and Winthrop, ATC, and Pac-Bay all have bent and straight aluminum butts in a verity of colors and lengths. I personally triple wrapped my guides ( underwrap, and 2 wraps over the roller guides. Never had any issues with the this process. I am sure other rodbuilders, will provide you additional info for you. Rich Kline Custom Rods Re: trolling rod build

I am certainly not qualified to give advice on this subject. However with that being said AB1 has some really nice looking roller guides as well. Re: trolling rod build

Everything you need to build that rod, including the information and help in selecting the blank and components, right down to the thread, is available from Batson Enterprises. Talk to them. Great people. Re: trolling rod build

rixhard, speaking about triple wrapping do you use size A thread for the under wrap and size D for the double wrap? Is there a limit on certain types of threadding to use for these type class rods? And also how does it look at finish product is it bulky or in the guide areas with the triple wrap?

If money is not an issue what power wrapper would you prefer overall?
If budget is my option which power wrapper would you prefer? Thanks, Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
