I am fairly new to rod crafting and this is my first post/question. I have an old rod that I am doing a rebuild on that had eva grips, decided to remove and replace with some new Winn split grips. When I removed the old grips and reel seat I found an aluminum tube with a 0.650" diameter approx. 14" long. I can dress the exposed area from the butt to the rear grip and I ordered a custom seat from Rodgeeks to fit the tube but my question is...…..will it be ok to ream the Winn grips to fit the tube diameter and proceed that way or is there a better/preferred way of doing this?
Thanks for you input! Mike Re: Rod redo & found extension
