1 piece into a 2 or 3 piece?

Is this doable without problems? I’d like to buy a rod maybe 6 inches longer than I’d like to cut it down for transport ability.

I’d like to do this for a travel rod that fits in a backpack or a long surf rod like 9+ feet.

Why bother when there are so many great travel rod and 2 piece blanks for little extra money?

10-4 on Spencer's comments.

Chris,
If you want to do what you want to do, then buy 3 full size blanks and cut each one to the length that you want, so that you will have pieces that will fit inside of one another.
That is about the only way to do what you want and still have the length where you want it.

But, buying a 2 or 3 piece blank is a much better option.
