I am new to the rod building business and would like any feed back on Pac Bay Tradition ll and Arctos rod blanks. I have been building St Croix blanks but with them discontinuing selling them I would like to know about Pac Bay blanks. I have used nothing but Pac Bay SV Zirconia guides so far and thought about giving the blanks a go. But would like a little feed back on them if possible.

I can't give you any feedback on the PB blanks however Rod Geeks is selling the St Croix blanks along with their own blanks.

I think you will find the PacBay blanks to be very nice. I've built on the Arctos fly blanks and have bent most of the Pac Bay blanks stocked at Utmost Enterprises. Good quality.

The Arctos is a fine fly rod blank! The action is fast, but not overly so, I find it casts very well at both short and long distances.

Rick
For what it's worth - I have only built spinning rods on 5 or 6 of the Pac Bay Tradition (original) & Tradition II spin jig blanks. These rods were built for river smallmouth bass and Canadian walleye fishing. I think they make a fine rod blank / rod for those purposes, and I would have no hesitation to use them again. Good bang for the buck!

Hello Rick.

I have built on the older Pacific Bay blanks.

The SU138M-B Sabre Blanks.
The XLB60's.
The XST56's.
The XST60's.
They are all nice blanks, I never got a blank from Pacific Bay that I didn't like.

Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines.

Bob,

New Bern, NC.
