Fuji Titanium TKW Guides

Hi there guys,

Has anyone heard about or seen a TKW guide bend, distort etc from heavy use? I've heard that this can happen with stripper guides on heavy (PE8 -10) top water rods...

I've seen some newer models of top water rods coming from the likes of MC Works in Japan using the RV guide as strippers. Thought this might have been a solution to this possible issue.

I have a set on a CTS SD PE8 Jigging out fit and have had sustained battles with monster NZ Kingfish up to 40kg and haven't had a problem.

Sounds like rumors to me but thought I would ask.

Cheers

I haven't seen any bend , i love the RV strippers though but i don't think they have a strength advantage they just work better thats why i have a few surf rods that utilize them as strippers. I have no experience with heavy duty rods though so can't really help you there.

I have been building a lot of rods with KW frames and the only ones that I have seen damaged like that were caused from stepping on it, slamming it in a door or catching the ring on something while transporting. The advantage of the RV guide is the height and that is why you are seeing them for those applications.

The KW guides are offered in heights much higher than the tallest RV guides are offered in , the RV offers a 25 ring in the 55 mm height which the KW frames do not but the KW double foots offer heights up to 86 mm but only with huge ring sizes. RV double foots come with rings larger than the 25 mm they come in 30 mm and 40 mm also but they are shorter in height than the 25 .

Good luck finding RV double foots in the 30 mm and 40 mm ring sizes for sale at retailers.

I am using the RV guides on spiral wrapped rods as the stripper only being a 6 mm. The KW 6 is 8.7 mm tall and the RV 6 is 12.9 mm tall. The taller guide holds the line straighter to the next guide on the side.

Cheers for the comments guys.

As suspected it was most probably rumors and @#$%& talk that has been passed around.
