Size 16 M vs. Y style, vs. SV style stripper guides

I did some comparing - and a size 16 M style, size 20Y style, and size 25 SV style guide are all really close in height. Anyone run size 16 M style for a stripper guide on ML and M power freshwater spinning set ups?

8# Mono would be the coarsest line used most of the time.

Yes, and even smaller than that.

Thanks Spencer! So a size 16 M guide and 8# mono you wouldn't flinch at? What have you run for transition down to running guides? I won't go smaller than 6's for running guides.

Thanks!
Marc

I built a few ultralights with them. Minima Match Frame Spinning Guides Model M 16, 8, 5, then Minima Fly & Running Guides Model F size 3 to the size 3 tip top. Using a 1000 series spinning reel and 6 lb mono. Used the KR GPS to set it up.

Marc,
Go back one page in the middle, post about a walleye jigging rod. Info is there.

Marc,
You have received qualified answers to your question. When using Fuji KL-Hs, the best bet is 16H, 8H, and 5.5M to the runners of your choice. However, when using the PB M guides, for whatever reason, a 10 spaces-out better for me than an 8. I cannot answer as to why and have asked a couple veterans to no avail. Consider purchasing both just in case. The M guides are very light and have used them on a number of builds but I always use a Fuji Alconite tip top!
