Without a white surface to wrap upon, the white thread will appear gray on the black blank, even with CP. Some use Testors model paint. Re: White thread

Before you do all of the blank, do a section under the handle to see if you get the results you want , put it on an look at it ""when wet"" don't have to dry to see what you get in the finished
BLANK , to see if you will like it, just an idea , William Sidney AK Re: White thread

Use noCP thread and pack tight. If that doesn’t work for you, most white spray paints like Krylon or brush on enamels will work since it will covered by thread and finish. Make sure you mask off the area you want to paint and make sure its dry before wrapping.

Hitena has pics of what their white thread looks like on a dark colored blank with and without finish . I have the white in nocp , works great.

I couldn’t find the pictures from hitena. Might have to give it a try anyway I would prefer not to have to paint the blank. The guy I’m building it for wants all white with red and gold trim like a Rainer beer can. I think it’s a great idea just don’t want it to turn out gray Edited 1 time(s). If you don’t want to paint the blank, then use a size D NoCP thread. It’s thick enough that the dark blank will not show though, just pack it tight. You can test on a scrap piece of blank. The major problem with white is it never stays white, once the epoxy finish is applied the wraps will begin to yellow, some finishes faster than others. Many people that do white main wraps will use a non yellowing finish such as Permagloss, but it requires a lot of coats to get good depth. Good luck!
