Considering that Tom Harder IS NOT the OP and posted in an attempt to help the OP but in the end was thoroughly convinced he became the OP until reminded that he wasn't , one of the craziest threads ever lol. Tom probably heaved all his rod building equipment out the window and took up bowling.

Michael all the info is in the search function of this site, I believe it was in the M&Ms Volume 3 all the posts were strictly about rethinking spinning rods. Let your fingers do the walking.
As far as casting into next week the Match rod will fish both banks of some pretty large western rivers from shore on one bank. the rod isn't built like anything I've seen in the states, the 3 pc rods tip is built like a very light ultralight blank and the rest is all power, shutting off right at the tip ferrule, Not a bit impressed by a 15 lb steelhead, way more butt power than a 1, 2, or 3 power steelhead blank.

Thanks Everyone for the input.

I really appreciate all the advice, I guess I have come to realize that when building a custom rod there are no perfect answers just well informed opinions. The reason I was gonna go with the recoils is because that is what I see on most high end rods.

For everyone that has been a part of this I will let you know how it turns out, but I got an amazing wife that gave me a nice little gift card to mudhole which may allow me to build one with the recoils and one with the minimas.

You don't have to believe me or Bob M., just test it your self with a rod you probably have at home. Just pull out a casting rod that will throw your 1/4 oz. jig well, put your spinning reel and line combo on it and go out and do some lawn casting. Will it cast your jig far enough for a "jigging" stick? You now have tested the worst case scenario, small guides way to close to the blank.
