Whats up guys, just wondering what the best grit sand paper would be to knock the edge off a pre made cork grip. most of the info out there is about shaping custom grips, but im just looking to round the sharp corners up some so it will match up nicely with the butt cap. I am not sure how aggressive I need to get with the sand paper, don't want to take off too much material. Any help would be appreciated.

220 grit. Take it easy, you can't put it back on.

Chris, I would start out using 200 grit , if you feel you need a little more than use 150 grit

If you are only rounding a sharp edge so the amount of cork to be removed is small, then I suggest you use 320 grit.

Since there is a small amount of material involved the 320 is not very aggressive and will be easier to control. It will take extra time to do but will be the most safest and accurate method.

The 320 grit will leave the cork with a smooth surface that requires no further attention other than a sealer or a protectant if desired.

If you find what you did does not match the finish of the rest of the piece simply do the whole piece with the same grit. I expect from 200 to 320 will work well.
