The ones which we interviewed for the article, including St. Croix, did not spine the rods but rather build on the straightest axis. I I am sure you could contact them directly and ask if you wanted a definitive answer from the others.

Michael,
Perhaps one of the reasons that you find that many of your rods are built on the spine, is that it may be because the straightest axis and the spine are on the very same line.
