I searced the web but cannot seem to find a source for fiberglass spigot ferrules - suggestions appreciated.

Solid glass plugs are generally used for that although some lighter rods have used tubular plugs. The magazine did an article on how to make and size these a few years back.

What type rod are you working on?

Right now I am attempting to repair my step son’s graphite fly rod - badly broken at a female ferrule, the other end is fine - just straight with an internal plug. My understanding is that some fashion of fiberglas ferrule “fix” will not impact rod action.
But also I want to get back into glass fly rod building since I am now retired.

It may not impact action but it may impact rod speed. But if there was already one there, you'd just be putting it back like it was.

Look around at area flea markets, etc. for solid glass carp rods. They can be used for what you want.

Check out the fiberglass stints sold by Proof Fly Fishing (https://www.proofflyfishing.com/collections/up-locking-reel-seats/products/fiberglass-stint-for-5-8wt-reel-seats). They are lengths of solid fiberglass rod designed to aid with fitting reel seats to large diameter fly rods. Don't see why you couldn't use them for ferrules.
