What do you consider to be the optimum ambient room temperature to apply thread epoxy?

From about 70F to 80F.

Tom K's range above is, of course, correct. And you can fine tune by brand and type for even better results. Just for example, ProKote has an extended open and cure time and the cure time can extend seemingly forever at 70 or less. But, at 73 degrees or above the cure time is significantly less than it will be at 70.

I certainly agree with Tom and Donald. In the case of ProKote, the directions on the label even state 70-80*. Admittedly, I use 80* because I can be impatient. Although, the summers here in So Cal can dictate curing epoxy at 90-100* or even hotter and I have not noticed any detrimental effects. Most low-temp, 4 to 1 structural epoxies benefit from an elevated “post-cure” of about 150*over night but I am uncertain of the effects or results on the 1 to 1 type of epoxies commonly used in the rod building world. I have done it without any noticeable issues but cannot be 100% certain.

For every 10F change in temperature from about 70F, up or down, you will either double or halve the set and cure time.
