Source for mandrels

Does anybody have a 1/2" steel mandrel 24"-30" long that they like sell or know where I can get one. Sorry Tom since the buy and sell does not work - like me.

No 1/2" and only come 18" long need 24" - 30"

try a machine shop, they should have 1/2 inch round rods

You can buy 1/2 inch drill rod in the length you want and if you'll splurge about $3 for an end bit, you can bore your own center on one end for your live center. Yes you can do this on a wood lathe.

McMaster Carr, close tolerance 01tool steel, drill rod, 0.50 X 36in, PN 8893K1, $11.25. Can be heat treated to aid rigidity/stiffness.
