Guide train suggestions

Happy New Year to you all. Looking for guide suggestions on a new build for the north fork SW 765 LMX rated 1/2-3oz. Plan to use it primarily as a boat rod for stripers, bluefish, and topwater blackfin (to around 20 lbs), AJs. Will be using shimano 5-6K , braid 30-50 lb, to a short 50 lb fluoro leader (2-3 ft). I'm torn between using double foot fuji KW for the reduction guides then KB/KT 6 or 7 or the single foot KR concept.

And last question. Some confusion on my part with the PE rod ratings. What PE would this be considered?

Thanks in advance for the input.

I would opt for the KW unless casting distance is critical. And with a possible 50 braid to 50 fluoro leader knot I might even consider KW all the way to the top. KB all the way at the very least.

Thank you Jim. The decision to use the KWs makes good sense the more I thought about it following your post. I'll have the peace of mind given the application intended. Thank you again.

Hi Mark,

I am delighted to see that someone else has purchased the NFC SW 765 LMX for striper fishing! After extensive research, I decided this rod would be best suited for my intended application and would fill out my rod collection nicely. I recently purchased two of these which I will be building as boat rods for fishing striper - both tossing large plugs and using live bait.

I am curious how you like them? And what application you think their best suited for? I have a few months until I need to finish the build and I'm trying to sneak in a little more research.

Thank you!

Chris Murphy
