I have built a few fly rods and consider myself somewhere between a novice and mediocre rod builder, BUT, I have a yen for a 10 ft, 4 wt to be used for nymphing. Do I need it? NO. Do I want it? Yes, and I need a winter project. I have been looking at a Pac Bay Quickline blank, it is reasonably priced and the online reviews seem positive, no one would lie on the internet would they? Anyone here have experience with the Quickline blank, if so can you give me brief review? Thank you & Happy Holidays to all Re: Pac Bay Quickline

I have built two Quicklines, both 4 piece nine foot, one a 6 and one an 8. They are in fact, based on CCS, what most would call a fast fly rod action. And the gloss black is beautiful. Both cast well. You stated they are reasonably priced, and you are right if you look around a bit. They are not priced the same at all sources. Both were at the top of the power rating for their weights, so you may want to overline by one or go with a line like the Rio Bonefish Shooter. Which in 8 wt is actually up more than one, and it casts very well at all distances.
One thing they don't have that some blanks have is nano tech, which may make those that have nano a tougher rod. But they will be significantly more expensive. Re: Pac Bay Quickline

I've built 3 of these, so not not huge experience, but I like them. Very good looking, and so far, none have broken in the hands of my friends. They are nice, fast action blanks. They can be had fairly inexpensively, so they fish above their $ grade. I'd build and use with confidence. Re: Pac Bay Quickline

The blank is geared for it's purpose, take it into another arena and you'll need to use a heavier line. Split shot, multi-fly rigging, etc. will put a smile on your face. Re: Pac Bay Quickline

Tried once.
Powerful for a #4. Nymphing with indicator ok (with a #5). Light Line Nymphing (European style) not at is best. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
