Ron, being on the next page I missed your post, and so did a lot of other people. To answer your question, the choke guide will be the KL5.5L. I like to progressively space the other two reduction guides between the stripper and choke guides, and then progressively space the other runners between the choke and tip top. If I don’t get a nice progressive spacing that looks good you can push the choke in or out a little to get an alignment that looks good. There is a lot of flexibility in laying out a guide train. Hope I wasn’t too late and that this was of some help.

Thanks. Thanks to everyones help, I've got a lot of time to wrap up this rod before I fish Erie tribs in early March.

Norm

I just weighed the entire setup before I start assembling it.

Blank: 2.1 oz
Blank with Minima4 guides, Aero 17 reel seat, and 12" woven carbon fiber grip/cap comes in at under 5.92 oz. I guess that is not too heavy for a 9'6" streelhead rod.

Epoxy, arbors, and thread would add some weight.

Swapping out the reel seat and woven grip for Fugi TVS and Winn AR grips reduces the total weight to just over 4 oz. I like the Minima4 guides.

Ron, it sounds good! The Minima4 guides are really light and perform very well. On a light rod you can't beat them.

Finished rod. Worked great in Erie as well as casting spoons for trout in the North Branch of the Potomac in Western Maryland/West Virginia.

6 and 8# mono used.

Thanks for all that helped with this build.

I'm curious on what those grips are called. I couldn't find AR grips on the Winn site.
