hey all, first post. Im in the process of converting all of my st croix legend tournament bass rods over to NFC rods i want to build. I fish only smallmouth bass in rivers. my current line up is two st croix legend 6'10" - 7'1" medium spinning rods, one 7'1" mh and one 6'10" medium light. Im having issues reading the charts and coming up with equivalent models of the NFC blanks.
the specs on the medium st croixs are 3/16 oz - 5/8 oz lures. 6-12 lb line. the ML is 1/8 - 1/2 oz lures and 6 - 10 lb line. mh is rated at 5/16 - 3/4 and 8 - 14 lb line. How do these NFC blanks compare to the above rods? MB 704-1 (HM) Bass $263.26 Fast 0.59 84 1/4-5/8 8-14 to the medium action st croix MB 705-1 (HM) Bass, Classics $266.76 Fast 0.59 84 1/4-3/4 10-17 to the medium heavy - perhaps going with the 6 power will be closer? perhaps this is a better choice for the MH? MB 736-1(X-Ray LMX) Bass, X-Ray $250.00 Fast 0.49 87 1/4-3/4oz 8-16lb How does this rod compare to the medium light? perhaps the 2 power is closer? MB 733-1(X-Ray LMX) Bass, X-Ray $250.00 Fast 0.52 87 1/8-3/8oz 4-10lb thanks so much guys! Re: NFC blank recommendations

I suggest that you call NFC and ask them for their recommendation.
Good luck Re: NFC blank recommendations

I’m not sure if they have the exact st Croix blanks in their inventory, but checking rodhouse.fr should / might help. They have a tool to visually compare blanks with various loads on their website Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/29/2018 07:53PM by Dennis Rief. Re: NFC blank recommendations

For your medium blank I would suggest the MB 702. The MB blanks have a ton of backbone.
For the medium light I would suggest either the SJ732 x-ray or possibly the DS 721 x-ray although I haven't had my hands on that blank yet. I would assume it has a much lighter tip section like their other Drop Shot models. For your MH I would suggest the MB 704 All of these recommendations may be more informative if you highlighted the most common bait or technique that you use that rod for the most, as NFC has many options for each of your specifications that each may shine with different techniques. All of my fishing is for smallmouth bass on rivers. For the medium heavy, baitcasting, 5/16 - 1/2 oz finesse style jigs with craw trailers. I also like a spinning rod in the same action for windy days or fishing under trees. medium spinning i throw 1/4 - 3/8 oz tubes, swimbaits, plastics. medium light spinning i throw 1/8 - 1/4 oz hair jigs, ned rigs, trd crawz, teaser tubes, etc. Re: NFC blank recommendations

I stand by my recommendations for those techniques. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
