Transparent paint?

Thinking of "tinting" a carbon tube insert for a TVS Fuji seat. Is there a paint that will give me some color and let me see the carbon fiber pattern underneath. Not too worried about durability, I can top coat with rod finish. Plan to use a white carbon tube. If it works I can get beyond the "standard" colors.

PermaGloss tends to automatically tint rather than go opaque. So you get a top coat and a tinted color all in one.

I agree with Tom, a little pigment mixed into Permagloss will give a nice translucent finish, that is hard and durable. Experiment on an broken piece of white blank to see if it’s what you want.

Jim, read the glass blank stain or dye post below, it takes a little playing around with, but some nice results can be had. Anyway, you probably get those inserts free! (Just kidding.)

Testors has small spray cans of a number of transparent colors. I use to color tint carbon fiber grips. Turn out really good looking in sunlight. I overcoat with epoxy.

Item can be found at many hobby shops or online.

2X the createx suggested by Matthew. Once its applied use a heat gut to set it, then you can top coat it with anything you like. Also a slew of colors to choose.

Thanks, gentlemen. Tolerances are close on the inserts, I may have to tint only the "windows" to make this work but at least I can experiment with the right stuff.
