I used pigment instead of the powder. Now it is not drying. What can I do to fix it? Can I apply a light coat of epoxy again? Do I need to start all over? This is the last step for me before it is finished. I read the past posts and I see powder is used. I am looking for a remedy for my situation to save this rod.

Raise the temperature on the rod to 100 degrees for a week and see if the finish is dry after that process.

If necessary, just make a cardboard box that would fit over the drying rod and put a few light bulbs in side to raise the temperature around the rod.

I would be quicker to blame improper mixing of your epoxy than the pigment. Give it a day or two in a warm room. If it doesn't setup, you will have to clean it off and redo it.

We can all learn from your experience.

i.e. any time that something new and unusual is going to be done - it is a very good idea to test the concept, materials, and methods - on a test subject - before the idea is carried out on the final product.

I really don't know the issue with your problem, but I do know that chemicals can be quite touchy when it comes to proportions in the mix. It could be possible that there was a bit much pigment in the mixture that caused the problem, or it may be an entirely different issue.

Let us all know how it all works out.

Be safe

Too much pigment, of any kind, can affect the setting and curing of the epoxy. Not saying this is your specific problem, but it's one more thing to look at.

What Tom says fits perfectly with what happens with the kind of pigment used in this situation and for strange that it sounds some colors of this pigment take more time to cure than others.
Let it cure for a few more days and than apply other coat of finish.
