I purchased an S Glass blank and didn't like the color so I stripped it last night . It turned out a decent looking white that I can see the rings in so I thought I may just keep it that way . My question is , do I need to clear it with something or can I get away with just polishing the blank ? I thought about trying to use an outdoor stain of some sorts or maybe even ritz dye to change the color but not sure how to do that . Have read many methods and they seem to all vary .

I would coat it with a urethane like U40 Permagloss. I just pour a little in a coffee filter and wipe it on in one pass. Repeat when the first coat dries.

I would just leave it alone and build the rod on the polished blank. 0 need to put any finish on the blank.

I'm thinking a final wet sand and then wrap the rod before the polish for maximum adhesion ? What would you use to polish such a beast ? TIA

Should want to color it, I have tinted blanks using marbling pigments and or Testors enamel mixed with moisture curing urethanes with good results. A little pigment goes a long way. If you don't like the result you can remove some or all of the color with scotchbrite. The urethane I use has a longer open time than Permagloss. I always go in thinking if I don't like it, I'll just sand it off. After it's wrapped and finished carnuba wax is the best polish. Roger is correct, no finish is needed for any reason.
