Need blank recommendation for drifting with worm harnesses

Good morning,

I need a blank recommendation for a couple builds that will be used for walleye fishing from a boat. The preferred method is drifting worm harnesses. I'm not at all familiar with this technique and could use some suggestions on inexpensive blanks.

Thank you,
Jeremy

Jeremy,
Pick up a 7'6" medium light blank in an inexpensive version and go catch fish after complteing the build.

Good luck

How much weight will you be using?
We may use as much as 2 oz when fishing deep on Lake Norfork or Bull Shoals.
That might require a stouter rod, typically we use an E-Glass, or Composite like the RDR series.

Best wishes,

I would suggest a medium to medium heavy moderate action rod in a casting model. If the rod is going to sit in a rod holder most of the time I would look at something 8' long two piece. If your going to hold the rod then 6'6" to 7' in casting. The other consideration would be if your using a bottom bouncer or weights to drag with. The weight of the weight/bouncer will dictate how heavy of rod to build. I did 4 bottom bouncer rods for up to 3ozs last winter and got them as a kit from Mudhole each was less than $55.[www.mudhole.com] . I also did a spiral wrap on each. The rod preformed better than I had hoped! I did each one in a different color as to call out the rod color when the rod has a fish, did colors the grand-kids like so they can pick the luck rod each day.
Good luck!
