Does anyone have the instructions/technique for the waterslides Decal Connections used to do. I know they no longer make them but I have a sheet of decals from years ago but I cant find the instructions. (embarrassingly shows when I last built a rod!)
I can vaguely remember a coat of epoxy, wetting the blank but its a bit fuzzy after this. Soak the decal too ??? Cheers Dan Re: Decal Connection Waterslide instructions

I thought I had a copy, but could not find it. Here is what I remember.
1) Apply a thin coat of epoxy to area for decal 2) After epoxy is set, wet area with water 3) Soak decal for approx. 30 sec. 4) slide decal onto blank 5) use a wet soft brush to smooth if needed. Re: Decal Connection Waterslide instructions

Call Decal Connection their phone still works. Do you still have some Micro sol and Micro set? You can get away without them but they help. Re: Decal Connection Waterslide instructions

Thanks for the reply both, I’m in the UK so I try and avoid expensive phone calls if possible! I emailed Decal Connection and they’ve replied with instructions. I’ll copy them below in case anyone else finds them useful.
‘We recommend you put a coat of epoxy first on the blank where you are placing the decal. This ensures a clean smooth surface for the decal. Place the decal in room temperature water for a couple seconds, take out of water and let sit for 20-30 seconds to activate the adhesive. Then take the decal between your thumb and second finger and gently slide it off the backing a little bit so to lay the decal on the rod and with your other hand gently hold that to the rod while you pull the remaining back off from behind the decal. Adjust into place and let dry (approx. 24 hrs). They you are ready to place a coat of epoxy over the decal. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
