I simply use the tape to mark the spot on the blank where I want to place a guide.
When I use the term - where the blank is bending -- I mean to say that if a fishing line is strung from the rod grip to the tip, where would a guide have to be placed to keep the line in a reasonable proximity to the blank.
Hence, put a mark on the blank where the blank is bending and the line would be away from the rod blank if a guide was not in that location to keep the line in the correct location.
Just another way of saying how to determine the appropriate guide location for the loaded blank.
