Hi Guy's ,
Putting a 8"nylon slick butt on a standup rod I am building as my first build. Just wondering with the arbors should I only put 3 on and as much epoxy as possible in between or put arbors the whole length with 1/4 to 5/16 gaps between and as much epoxy as possible? The inside of the slick butt is tapered and matches the tapper of the blank pretty good. There is 1.5mm of difference between o.d of blank and the I.d of the slick butt. Thanks for any advice given. Tight lines Scott Re: Arbors for 8" nylon slick butt?

Put on as little epoxy as possible. Excess epoxy adds weight, not strength. If the fit between the arbors, butt and blank is good, and you have prepared a water-break-free surface, you need only coat the mating surfaces to have a tremendously strong bond. Do not pour epoxy in-between the arbors. Three 1 to 1-1/2 inch arbors evenly spaced will be more than enough.

1.5 mm? I would just wrap the rod butt with drywall mesh, coat it with rod bond and slide the slick butt over it into position. Don't forget to leave room for the gambol. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: Arbors for 8" nylon slick butt?
