Just another weird thought I had today . Has anyone ever tried wrapping with clear mono instead of thread for a clear wrap ? Seems to me it might work .

I tried that once in the 60s. Those were the days of varnishes. It worked and held up. Just not very well. Doc Ski is using some on his tiger (Throop) wraps with success.

Back better than 8 years ago there was a cover shot on RodMaker magazine of a Chaos blank, with holographic paint job, wrapped in mono or fluro, 8 lb. I think it was. May be others inside center of the magazine. Vol. 10, Issue 1 maybe.

Why not just use natural silk? Thin finish and Bam it goes clear, Am I missing something?

Mono doesn't produce a clear wrap. It tends to have a silver sheen. Some like it, some don't. Also, epoxy doesn't adhere very well on mono, although it'll work for awhile.

in order to get the epoxy to hold well, it has to perpetrate the wrapping material , not just set on top of it , I think ,
