I looking to build a casting rod for throwing small crankbaits, like 1/4 oz -3/8oz. I'm looking for something around 6'8 to 7'2. I'm curious to see what others are using out there and how they like them. Thanks

What are you using it for? Only reason I ask, Is unless your pulling fish out of thick weed bed's I feel the Med Is just to heavy for these size bait's, I built the Rainshadow revcb70m for these exact bait's. And Now I wish it had a Softer tip!! Go with what Ron suggest and I think you will be very happy!

I will be fishing in open water and around rocks and laydowns. I won't be using near any weeds. I appreciate all the feedback and I agree, I think a softer tip will be better for me

I'm with Ron, back in the late 80's, early 90's us old guys were trying out the little cranks, spinnerbaits, and other stuff Norman , Bass Pro, etc. were producing. My G Loomis PR8400 popping rod really made that stuff cast about as good as it could. The Shikari P, IP, and PP700 blanks and rods were very similar. We called it fishing Chicklets after the little pieces of gum. Surprisingly I had some good results with those cranks on river brown trout.

Man those Shikari blanks are the real deal for drop shorting!!!! Of all the blank companies that have come and gone in my short tenure of building Shikari is the one I miss the most

If you like something X-Fast, consider a "drop-Shot",
like American Tackle "DSS69/4-10 or Batson IMMS610MXF-TC
Still has a very soft tip, but goes into backbone quicker.

I really like my Bushido, like Don recommends, but think the Schneider recommendation for getting into the backbone faster is even better. Main thing is to make sure the rod loads properly with the weight of the lure you'll be casting. I think both do.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'm going to give the batson IMMS610MXF- TC a try. On a side note has anyone used a daiwa tatula 100 size, or curado 70 to cast lightweight lures?

Tatula Sv TW 103 tw casts light baits very well. With a rod that loads properly.

The curado won’t have a single issue with 1/4 ounce. If u want to go really light get an avail spool or the diy spools alomg with some abec7’s and let it rip
