Under wraps how to?

Hi Guy's, When doing under wraps with trims and centre block should you start out side and work in or do centre and work out .Or start one end and go through to other end?

Doesn't really matter. Some like to always work from a smaller to a larger diameter on the blank. This helps in terms of thread packing. The wraps naturally fall tighter against each other.

Ok thanks. The other thing I was wondering was wondering should the centre block be the same size for all of the guides or should it be smaller ( less wraps) as the guides get smaller. Will be on a stand up rod with ring guides as. Was thinking for the centre to use metallic gold of about ten wraps then 3 black then 2 gold then rest in black and finish with a 3 gold trim on the end of the wrap.Hope that makes sense.

I don't use under-wraps but I would think it advantageous to do the under and over wraps in the opposite directions to provide a little angle between them, so the upper wrap doesn't tend to fall into the lower as readily as it would if wrapping them "parallel." For double foot guides it would mean a "two piece" under-wrap rather than a continuous wrap.
