What size foregrip and reaming eva

Hi guy's, I talked to the rod blank supplier of the 15kg standup rod I am about to build (first build). Where the foregrip will sit is between 19 and 16.5 mm in diameter. Getting a 14inch grip but may cut up to 2 inches off . Should I get a 3/4 I.d grip and put arbors or get 5/8 i.d grip and ream.I will have to make a reamer if that's the case. What grit size should the sand paper tape have? Also how much will Eva stretch if trying to get it down on a blank.Getting close now to finally building a rod after months of research and reading.Excited and nervous. Thanks to all who have given advice along the way.
Tight lines Scott.

If the choice is a grip that is too large and must be shimmed, or one that is too small and must be reamed, I'd go with the later. Grips will stretch a good bit provided you install them properly. Check the FAQs page here to learn a good method for installing-stretching them.

Cheers Tom. If it will stretch 1.2 to 1.5 times I should not have to ream at all. After I glue up the handle, butt and rear grip I will take some measurements and make sure the o.d of the blank is within range of those numbers. If by chance it won't go all the way what are the chances of sliding it back off and cleaning the glue up and reaming a little? I had sort of forgot about the FAQS page.Lots of good stuff there.

1.2 likely. 1.5 might be a stretch, no pun intended.

I end up getting a different blank that is 21mm at it's widest where the foregrip will sit.Decided that I probably would not get the grip to stretch that much.So made a reamer out of a old broken rod as per the instructions on the Flex Coat page.Use some 40grit emery tape.Worked a treat.
