"base wrap" paint?

With the season winding down I've accumulated a few of my buddies rods in need of repair. I don't mind doing them, I figure it's just more experience.
I started to prep a rod for new guides and come to find this rod has red paint on the blank to mimic a base wrap. My guess is that this was once common practice? Maybe on cheaper rods? I'm not sure. I'm still pretty new at this. Anyways, due to damage from someone supergluing a guide on after wrapping it with power pro, it has messed up some of that red. Do I just do an actual base wrap? Or is there a paint I can use to fix this? Model paint? It's just a boat rod that gets abused. It's a beater. Reason why I'm leaning towards paint is because there or other colors painted on also that I don't want to redo. What are your thoughts? Thanks Re: "base wrap" paint?

If this is an Ugly Stik, Testers yellow, and red match perfectly. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: "base wrap" paint?

I generally sand the damaged area just a tad longer than the original wrap, then try and match the blank color with an A underwrap. Any more fish on that good looking RCKJB Derek? Re: "base wrap" paint?

I can honestly attribute it to being so sensitive. The back bone and power with that kind of sensitivity is just amazing. I'm going to build one on the 700-250 blank and possibly the 700-3** blank. Also, I ordered a bunch of pbxII blanks from Utmost for seabass / ling rods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
