Even with the small differences between a bare vs finished blank, you're way ahead of the rod shakers and tip benders on the floor, or ceiling.
That other system I've seen on some of the bass forums, seems half baked compared to the the CC system. Lots of info not avilable when I tried it, lot's of "what about this" questions I asked were anwered by churping crickets.

This forum is as knowledgeable to rod building as fly anglers online (faol) is to fly tying.. Im proud, and honored to be a member of both..
