I'm starting a build on a 4pc 9' 2wt fly rod . I found a guide placement calculator but not size . The calculator calls for 10 guides , I assume the stripper / s are included .What say ye smarter and more experienced builders than me ? TIA.

Typically you see length of rod +1 for number of fly guides. Size 8 stripper guide with either agate or ceramic depending on preference and then one or two transition guides like a Size 3 or Size 2 then size 1/0 single foot wire guides out. I would not run ceramics all the way out on a 2wt. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/06/2018 02:28PM by chris adams. Re: Guide sizes

I decided on an 8 ceramic stripper , to a 2 and then 8- 1/0 to the tip . Thank you for your replies . Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
